Prospect Heights Natural Resources Commission
The residents of Tully Park first came to the commission with the idea that we had jurisdiction over a land locked parcel known as Tully Park. In reality, the Prospect Heights Park District owned the property that was more of a maintenance issue for the Park District than an asset and on the chopping block as the Park District was in talks with the Super Mega church to buy the land and use it for a parking lot.
After listening to the impassioned please of the residents to stop the sale of the land and return it to a naturalized area for the neighborhood, the commission advised them to talk directly with the Park District, with the pledge that we would assist them in any way possible with the understanding that we could not take the project on as a commission, but in a support and advisory roll. They did just that.
